Benefits of Podcasting

Podcasting is a very powerful tool for teaching and learning. You can put the learners in a particular setting, and let them experience learning visually. As I viewed the various podcasts created by the class, I learned something new with each viewing. It was exciting, I felt like I was on an adventure, and each podcast was a new journey. It is nice to put faces, voices, etc., with the podcasts, they become very personal.

Workshop - Sub-Saharan Art WebQuest

Podcasts

In my opinion podcasting is similiar to blogging. A few outsiders visited my site - their podcasts were interesting.

What do I think of blogging for teaching and learning purposes?

Blogging is an excellent tool for teaching and learning. Originally I was hesitant when I was forced to blog. The blogging assignment has given me new insights into the benefits of the blog. Writing is enhanced through blogging in the classroom. Instead of students using paper and pens, they can type in their information and receive feedback from others. By adding pictures, graphics, links, etc., the students feel pride and are motivated to continue with their specific task. The document becomes a living document which can continually be changed, updated, and improved. Also instead of carrying around notebooks and journals, the students can use blogging to keep all of their work in one place. By keeping the students actively participating in their learning, new knowledge is always on the forefront.

Blogging in the Workplace

Yes, I would use blogging in the workplace. Many IT projects must include input and information from various departments in the development phases. Many workers are usually dispersed all over the world. Blogging would provide a living journal/document in which pictures, graphs, video, etc. can be attached. Blogging would save time, resources, and money.
